Enjoy built-in CTCSS/DTCS Encode and Decode. 207 memory channels are featured including 6 scan edge and 1 call. And each memory can be labeled with up to 5 characters. Multiple scan types are available. The easy-to-usecontrols are very intuitive. The display backlighting may be set for On, Off or Off after 15 seconds of inactivity. There are also DTMF memory channels. Icom launched the M36 radio, the next step in Icom’s lineup of military rugged marine handhelds. The M36 comes with Clear Audio Boost. It can adjust its own volume level to account for the surrounding noise level. It’s common to the auto-adjusting volume level feature found on radios in new cars, but the M36 automatically adjusts the transmit as well. For manual override, a “loud” button can be activated with one push, giving immediate full volume. The M36 has a real noise canceling microphone built in, and uses a Li-Ion battery, designed to give the user 8 hours of typical use on a single charge. Transmit power is 6 watts; to extend operating time the power level can be dropped down to 1 watt when needed.

LOUD Button: When you need an instant “boost” in the volume, a simple push of the “LOUD” button gives you full volume immediately. In addition, holding the “LOUD” button mutes the audio output.
Noise Cancelling Microphone: The sub-microphone on the rear panel inverts phase and cancels out ambient noise from the main microphone. As a result, the IC-M36 reduces the affect of background noise (particularly trebly noise) from the transmitted signal and makes it easier to catch voice communication.

Automatic Volume Adjustment: When in an engine room or high noise environment, the sub-microphone detects the ambient noise and the IC-M36 automatically increases the volume output to suit the surrounding environment.
